![]() ![]() You can place them in your left or right zone by treating them as a spell. pendulum monsters each have a left and right scale. Then treat it like an effect monster where the word "detach" means send the card or cards under it to the grave.įinally. Basically put one on top of the other and then the xyz monster on top. XYZ Monsters are summoned by overlaying the cards it says to overlay on your side of the field on top of each other. You then just treat it like an effect monster. Synchro Monsters are just you sending a number of monsters that fit the conditions and have the combined level of the synchro to the grave from the field. Basically, you fusion summon a card by using another card that says to do something to fusion summon it OR by using its own effect. That's about it.įusion monsters are summoned from the fusion deck using cards like polymerization. And counter traps are the highest speed that cannot be responded to until they have fully resolved. Traps are cards you place face down in your S/T zone (basically 5 spots on the board) and can activate at instant speed any turn after that. You activate spells by playing them and that's it. Most spells are sorcery speed, but some are quickplay spells that you can also treat like traps. Basically some are continuous while some are single use. You tribute monsters on your side of the field for this by sending them to the graveyard.Įffect monsters are basically monsters you treat like normal monsters except you also apply whatever the card effect is. You summon normal monsters by normal summons. It's effectively exile in mtg the way the graveyard in yugioh is the grave in mtg. And it stays there unless a card says to move it elsewhere. A card gets sent there if a card says to banish it or remove it from play. There is a removed from play zone in addition to your graveyard. It would literally take me 5 minutes to teach you all the new stuff if that. Banished is just another name for removed from play, since removed from play is really wordy. To begin with, the new mechanics are extremely simple to learn. ![]() Then there's the whole fact that Magic caught me where Yu-Gi-Oh didn't is because of it being 99% mechanics-based with little to no flavor to it. I also don't recall "banished" being a rule term before. For me, there's already a barrier to entry in terms of learning the new game mechanics that have been introduced since I've been gone, such as the aforementioned synchro monsters. Speaking of, would you like to try playing any in the near future? There's not really a barrier to entry, or at least not a big one, as evidenced by the fact that I have no idea what the hell I am doing in the new meta and I was still able to win my first 2 games after 6 months with a 3rd tier "special snowflake" deck I really need to redesign. ![]() In addition to these cards, you normally run 3 copies of Emergency Teleport: And the other option doesn't get any real effect whatsoever. HOWEVER, he is in there because you want a couple lvl 3 earth tuners that witch can fetch. To be blunt, it is very rare for his effect to be extremely relevant, but it can happen. Mental Seeker, on the other hand, offers a little bit of control. My opponent doesn't get to know what the card banished face down is, and I don't either, but since fetching an Esper Girl means that that Esper Girl is almost always going to be used for a synchro summon that turn, it's usually equivalent to a draw 1. If I already have a tuner in hand, re-summoning herself may actually be the right play, but I usually go for Esper Girl or Mental Seeker.Įsper Girl, when summoned by the effect of Serene Psychic Witch, is very slow but very good card draw. The first important thing to note here is that, if my opponent destroys a Serene Psychic Witch on their turn by any means, and it goes to the graveyard, she can summon any of these three cards (including herself) in my next standby phase. There are multiple ways to run this engine, with other cards possible that I don't currently use, but these three cards are the ones I use for my deck from this archtype. ![]()
